Olivier Giroud did not report to Milanello for training with the rest of the Milan squad this morning as the Frenchman has been struck down by flu.

Stefano Pioli and his squad are set to fly to London for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Tottenham tomorrow afternoon.

According to reports in Gazzetta dello Sport, Giroud was already suffering from symptoms during Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Fiorentina in Serie A at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Giroud is apparently recovering and his condition is thought to be improving, but there are doubts as to whether he will be able to start on Wednesday.

The Frenchman will be assessed at Milanello tomorrow morning whilst the rest of the team train ahead of their scheduled afternoon flight over to England.

Pioli is said to be considering taking Giroud to London regardless of his fitness, in the hope that he might be able to play a part at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In his absence, Ante Rebic, Divock Origi or Charles De Ketelaere would be likely to fill in and lead the line for the Rossoneri in Europe.
