Olivier Giroud confirms Milan are ‘a big club and I adored several of their players,’ but won’t talk about his future after Chelsea’s contract extension.

The France international is currently preparing for Euro 2020 and was asked about the situation during a press conference.

“Milan are a big club and I adored several of their players, like Marco van Basten and Andriy Shevchenko, but I won’t talk about my future now. I just want to focus on the Euros,” said the striker.

“Chelsea activated my contract extension in April and only announced it later due to the Premier League rules.”

Giroud’s entourage told Italian reporters that Chelsea exercised the unilateral option to extend to June 2022 largely to ensure he couldn’t join another Premier League club.

However, the Blues have seemingly promised to let him leave as a free agent for an overseas experience such as Milan.
