Oliver Giroud is reportedly in doubt for Milan’s Serie A season opener against Udinese due to a muscle problem.

The 35-year-old Frenchman proved to be a decisive part of Stefano Pioli’s squad last season, netting 11 goals in 29 league appearances as the Rossoneri went on to lift their first Scudetto in a decade. Giroud has seemingly broke the number 9 curse at Milan and looks set to play an important role again in the upcoming campaign.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Giroud is currently in doubt for Saturday’s game against Udinese due to a muscle strain. The French veteran’s condition is being monitored closely and his presence on the weekend depends on if he’s fit enough to join tomorrow’s squad training session.

Should the former Arsenal and Chelsea man be ruled out for Milan, Ante Rebic would be ready to take over in his place. The Croatian played as a centre forward in the last pre-season friendly against Vicenza and he gave Pioli encouraging signs. Divock Origi will start on the bench but could appear in the second half.
