Milan striker Olivier Giroud believes he can play next to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Rossoneri attack. ‘For me it’s an honour to play alongside a player like Ibra, but the coach decides’.
Zlatan is working for his return and Calciomercato.com reports he will carry out tests and training sessions over the next few days to determine when he can return to the group.
The target for the Swede is to be back on track for the week leading up to Sampdoria vs. Milan on August 23 at the Marassi.
Giroud was presented for the press today and the new signing believes the two veteran strikers can play together in the Diavolo attack.
“Good question. For me it’s an honour to play alongside a great player like Ibra, but I think it’s a question to ask the coach,” Giroud said at a press conference.
“I’m here at Milan to bring my experience, and we can complement each other. It’s easy to play alongside a player with his personality. I’m sure we could be a great pair, I’m here with great humility.”
He was asked what formation he would picture for Milan to have him and Zlatan on the pitch at the same time.
“As I said before, I’m not the coach and I can’t talk about tactical details,” he said. “Playing with great players, however, is not difficult and it’s easy to be on the pitch.
“I can adapt my qualities to his. It’s not impossible to play at the same time as him. I think recently, Ibrahimovic is more of a No. 10, a playmaker. But the thing is that Milan have great professionals capable of putting themselves on the line for the team.
“I’m very happy with the welcome from the team. We are working hard for the club and I can’t wait for Ibrahimovic to be with us.”
