Milan striker Olivier Giroud has exited the quarantine and will carry out a fitness test today, but coach Stefano Pioli has confirmed he won’t play against Lazio.

The new signing scored a brace against Cagliari ahead of the international break but then tested positive for coronavirus and has been isolated until today.

Corriere della Sera reports the 34-year-old leaves the fiduciary isolation today and will carry out the medical tests at Milanello on the eve of the match against Lazio on Sunday.

But the coach confirms the won’t take part against Maurizio Sarri’s men and it seems more reasonable to have him back when Milan play Liverpool in the Champions League next week.

“I was hoping to have all the players available for this tour de force,” Pioli said at a press conference. “Giroud won’t be there either, he’s fine now, but he’s been out for two weeks.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to training and is back in contention ahead of the match against the Aquile this weekend, while Franck Kessie has also recovered from injury and is expected to start his first game this term.
