Sebastian Giovinco has arrived in Genoa this evening ahead of his return to Serie A.

The 35-year-old Italian forward is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Al-Hilal last summer. The player has not played in the Italian topflight since leaving Juventus for MLS side Toronto FC back in February 2015.

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Giovinco landed at Milan’s Malpensa airport this afternoon before travelling down to the Ligurian capital. He will undergo a round of medical tests tomorrow morning before signing his contract with Sampdoria.

The 35-year-old Italian is being brought in as a short-term replacement for Manolo Gabbiadini, who has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee, which will sideline him for a number of months.

Last season, Giovinco scored one goal and provided four assists in 21 league appearances for Al-Hilal, so it remains to be seen if he’s still up to the level of Serie A.
