Napoli are serious about Billy Gilmour and are reportedly preparing to send in an improved offer to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Partenopei are in the early stages of a new project under Antonio Conte and have identified the 23-year-old Scottish midfielder as the right option to bolster his squad in the Campania capital. A circa €9.5m opening bid was rejected by the Seagulls last week.

In the meantime, Napoli are looking to raise funds from the sale of unneeded players and are negotiating to send Gianluca Gaetano to Cagliari following his loan spell last season. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing as an agreement seemingly nears.

Napoli to improve Gilmour bid

Page 22 of today’s Corriere dello Sport details how Napoli will send in an improved offer to Brighton for Gilmour once they complete the sale of Gaetano to Cagliari, ready to immediately reinvest in their squad.

The Sardinian side are looking to pay around €8m for the 24-year-old playmaker and the Partenopei have set a €12m price tag, so the two parties will likely meet in the middle to find a deal.

  1. Napoli is doing much better in this window compared to last Summer which was a disaster.
They still need to upgrade their starting RW though if they plan to compete for the title.
