Goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet is in talks about a possible move to Palermo following the relegation of Bari to Serie B.

"I can confirm everything," the Belgian's agent Oscar Damiani told Rete Rete 24. "Palermo are chasing him and the player would be happy to go. The two clubs are in discussions."

Gillet has been on Bari's books since September 2000 and he's been at the club ever since apart from a loan spell at Treviso in 2003-04.

"Jean-Francois still has a few years to run on his contract, but talks are at a quite advanced stage already," added the agent.

"There is reason to believe that an agreement which satisfies all parties will be found.

"The interest in the player has nothing to do with Salvatore Sirigu's future at Palermo. We'll have to see after whether the present Palermo 'keeper leaves or not.

"Gillet would just be very happy to wear the Palermo shirt."

Gillet, born in May 1979, started his career with Standard Liege before heading to Italy with Monza in 1999.
