Former Italy striker Alberto Gilardino believes Dusan Vlahovic is ‘a modern forward’ and is ready to join a top club.

The Fiorentina star won’t extend his contract expiring in June 2023 and there are reports he could leave the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the January transfer window.

Juventus and Tottenham are reportedly in pole position to secure his services, while Arsenal have tried to enter talks to sign him, but the Serbian forward is not interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Gilardino, a former Fiorentina and Milan striker, shared his thoughts on Vlahovic, admitting that the Tuscans’ ace is ready to join a top club.

“He is a modern centre forward. He moves a lot, he holds the ball and he can shoot with both feet,” Gilardino told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Vlahovic the third Serie A star to snub Arsenal move?

“You can understand that he is ready to join a top club, he always gives his all and that’s one thing to highlight, although it is difficult to discuss his contract situation.”

Fiorentina are open to listening to offers for Vlahovic but won’t sell their striker for less than €75-80m.

A 2006 Italy World Cup winner, Gilardino spent four years in Florence, scoring 63 goals in 157 games.

He played at Milan from 2005 until 2008, managing 44 goals in 132 appearances.

He has become a coach but was sacked by Serie C side Siena only a few weeks ago.
