There could be a deadline day merry-go-round with Alberto Gilardino to Juventus, Fabio Quagliarella to Roma and Marco Borriello to Genoa.
It emerged this morning that Genoa were irritated at Juve’s last-ditch attempts to poach Gilardino, but this is only part of a huge chain reaction.
According to SportItalia, if Gilardino does go to Turin then Genoa will bring Borriello back from Roma.
The Giallorossi reportedly have a deal in place to take Demba Ba from Chelsea, but are holding off because Coach Rudi Garcia would prefer Quagliarella.
If Gilardino comes to Juve, then Quagliarella would be released to join Roma.
Quagliarella has been linked with numerous clubs overseas, including West Ham, Fulham and teams in Qatar, but he wants to remain in Serie A during a World Cup year.
The transfer deadline in Italy is at 23.00 local time (22.00 in the UK, 21.00 GMT).
