Former Marseille ‘keeper Pascal Olmeta believes Andre-Pierre Gignac is capable of emulating Eric Cantona's Manchester United legacy at Inter.

The striker has been in hot goalscoring form of late, netting 10 goals in 12 matches for L’OM, but he is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Nerazzurri are reportedly keeping tabs.

Olmeta, who lifted the 1993 Champions League with Marseille, has encouraged Inter to make a move for the 28-year-old, asserting that the forward is 'perfect' for Serie A.

“He's a strong player, who is physical and has character,” the 53-year-old insisted in conversation with Tuttomercatoweb.

“I really like him, and I think he'd be perfect for Italian football.

"In Italy, he could have the impact that Eric Cantona had in England with Manchester United."

Olmeta was similarly enthusiastic in his appraisal of Paul Pogba at Juventus” data-scaytid=”22″>Juventus.

“He's complete player, a very talented one at that, and I think he can win a lot of titles, even the Ballon d'Or because he's wonderful.

“At the moment, Pogba is France's best player. He's young but an asset for all of us and has the maturity to be very strong. Thus, he can become the strongest in the world."
