Former defender Gianluca Zambrotta has claimed Gianluigi Donnarumma and captain Alessio Romagnoli must be the pillars in the future of Milan.
The World Cup winner picked up three titles during his spell with Milan, helping the club to their last Scudetto in 2010-11 and two Supercoppa Italiana.
But Zambrotta fears the rebirth of the Rossoneri could be harmed if Donnarumma and Romagnoli leaves the club.

But Zambrotta fears the rebirth of the Rossoneri could be harmed if Donnarumma and Romagnoli leaves the club.
“They will certainly need pillars to start from. One is Donnarumma, with Romagnoli,” he told Tuttosport. “Then we have to understand what happens in midfield and attack.
“The arrival of [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic has allowed an important leap in quality, even if it was only short term. In one, two or three years, I don’t know. But in the short term.”
Milan sit seventh in Serie A ahead of the resumption and will face Juventus in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia on Friday.
