Roma legend Giuseppe Giannini believes Gervinho could be a trump card against Bayer Leverkusen.
The Giallorossi take on the German side in the Champions League tonight, looking to recover after going down 3-2 to BATE Borisov last time out.
“Roma come into tonight’s game with sky-high morale after three wins in a row in the League,” Giannini, a Scudetto winner with the club in 1983, told Calciomercato.
“The Giallorossi have closed the gap to the top of the table, and in addition [Coach] Rudi Garcia has Edin Dzeko back.

“I don’t think the Frenchman [Garcia] will opt for the Bosnian [Dzeko] tonight, instead relying on the line-up which has been tried-and-tested in the League in recent weeks.
“Maybe there will be space for Dzeko during the match.
“The hope is that Leverkusen go on the attack tonight, since Roma could be deadly on the counter with [Mohamed] Salah and Gervinho.
“The Ivorian could be the player who wins it for Roma tonight. That said, counter-attacks are Leverkusen’s best weapon too, so the first 30 minutes will be crucial.
“It’s vital that Roma don’t lose tonight, since they have to close the gap in the group.”
Giannini made over 300 appearances for the Lupi during his playing career, and took the time to congratulate Daniele De Rossi, who made his 500th appearance at the weekend.
“Daniele De Rossi’s goal against Empoli is important for him, as a player and a fan. Similarly it’s important for his family and the club, it’s a source of pride.
“Just like he scored against Empoli, I hope he’ll be able to repeat that tonight, at least with a great performance.”
