Marco Giampaolo says his Sampdoria side cannot allow themselves to be affected by their Coppa Italia elimination.

The Blucerchiati were beaten 3-2 by Fiorentina in midweek to bow out of the cup, a result the Marassi boss admits left him ‘disappointed and angry.’

However, ahead of his team’s Serie A match with Sassuolo, the tactician stressed the need for Samp to put the result behind them.

“I expressed a feeling on Wednesday that I felt,” Giampaolo told reporters. “The disappointment and anger were great.

“I think the team could have played better. At the end of the day, we gifted it to them a bit and we were a little unlucky in certain situations. We payed a high price for that.

“I normally say to the players that they need to put defeats behind them and look to the next challenge.

“We can’t allow ourselves to be affected by negative results.”
