Marco Giampaolo was sacked by Milan and replaced by Stefano Pioli in October 2019 after 112 days at the club. This evening he returns to San Siro with his Torino side for the first time since then.

Giampaolo was appointed by the Rossoneri in summer 2019, but had little time to develop the team. He won three of his seven games in charge of the Rossoneri, losing the remaining four.

Milan scored six goals and allowed nine during his tenure.

Giampaolo was sacked after an away win at Genoa.

“My Milan side had youg and promising players who showed their worth after the lockdown,” Giampaolo said in an interview last summer.

“I can’t talk about that experience, it was too short, seven games are not enough to make an objective assessment," he continued.

“My Milan side had quality and personality and today they are reaping the rewards with mister Stefano Pioli. I completely put that experience aside, you have to look ahead."

Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the game he said he is "not worried about facing Milan."
