According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Marco Giampaolo is close to signing a two-year deal with Sassuolo.

The former Sampdoria and Torino coach is the Neroverdi’s priority to replace Roberto De Zerbi, who left the Stadio Mapei to become the new Shakhtar boss.

The reliable transfer journalist reports Giampaolo and Sassuolo are close to reaching an agreement over a two-year deal.

Giampaolo was named Torino coach in 2020, but his time with the Granata only lasted six months as the club sacked him in January 2021.

The 53-year-old won just four of his 20 games in charge of Torino, drawing seven and losing nine.
