Empoli boss Marco Giampaolo was content with “a good point” away to Atalanta.
Riccardo Saponara hit the woodwork, but the hosts had the best overall chances in the 0-0 draw.
“Empoli cannot be expected to play at 100 per cent every time, so it’s only human to have the odd game below par,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a balanced game, either of the teams could’ve scored, but they both pushed to the end. It’s a good point for us against a side that was in need of a win and allows us to continue the unbeaten run.
“The important thing is playing to win. Attitude makes the difference. We never talked about European qualification, because there are seven or eight sides ahead of us with much stronger squads and mentality.
“We hope to be in our current position for the rest of the season.”
