Sunderland’s Emanuele Giaccherini says he is happy at the Premier League club and wants to stay at the Stadium of Light.
The 29-year-old arrived in North-East England last summer, when he was signed from Juventus by former Black Cats manager Paolo Di Canio.
He has been linked with a move back to his homeland at times this season, with Fiorentina and Genoa thought to be interested, but speaking to TuttoJuve.com the player confirmed he wants to remain in the Premier League.
“It’s still early for me to be thinking about my future,” Giaccherini said. “I am on holiday. But my intention is definitely to remain at Sunderland.
“I am happy at the club and when it is the right time I will talk to the boss in order to hear his thoughts on my role.
“I have three years of contract and I want to remain in the Premier League, wearing this shirt.”
