Giaccherini reached the Euro quarter-finals with Italy under Antonio Conte in 2016, and that game was his last international appearance.

Gazzetta asked him on Friday about Italy’s regret after their poor European campaign.

“They lacked hunger, courage and enthusiasm. I expected an Italy side technically inferior to other top teams but with a more solid group.”
