Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has praised the seriousness of Juventus squad player Emanuele Giaccherini.

The midfielder is a regular in the Italy squad, despite the fact that he is not guaranteed first team football for his club side.

“I felt great joy for him after his goal against Catania at the weekend,” Prandelli commented to Tuttosport.

“He’s a serious professional and that is his strength,” the tactician added. “He’s always comported himself well with me.

“The fact that I call him up despite the fact that he is not a starter signifies that he has extraordinary qualities.”

Giaccherini was given his debut by Prandelli in the Euro 2012 opener against Spain. The former Cesena man now has six caps to his name.
