Florent Ghisolfi is set to be appointed by Roma as their new sporting director, but the Frenchman will be once again dealing with a tight transfer budget.

OGC Nice director Ghisolfi will be the new Roma director, as confirmed by the Ligue 1 side’s president Jean-Pierre Rivere.

The Frenchman replaced Tiago Pinto who left the Giallorossi after the January transfer window, five months before the end of his contract.

Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto has explained to Caught Offside’s Daily Briefing what the Giallorossi must expect from their new sporting director, saying that the Giallorossi transfer strategy won’t change much.

Ghisolfi: New director, but same transfer strategy for Roma

“I think Roma will look for players who can come in at an economical price, and then sell them on at a profit, or focus on players that with the potential to become stars down the line,” said Moretto.

Roma will have to make some changes even if Ghisolfi will be dealing with a limited transfer budget.

Multiple sources claim Romelu Lukaku will return to Chelsea after the end of his loan spell but according to Moretto there is “little certainty” about the future of the Belgium international, scorer of 21 goals in 46 appearances with the Giallorossi this season.

The same goes for Paulo Dybala who has a year left in his contract and a €12m clause valid for clubs outside Serie A and €20m for domestic sides, which can be activated until July 30.
