After today's indictments from mayor Federico Pizzarotti, who blamed the FIGC, and captain Alessandro Lucarelli, who blamed President Giampietro Manenti, it was Ghirardi's turn to speak out.
“On November 4, 2014, I signed the preliminaries for the club's sale from myself to Rezart Taci,” he stated, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
“Until the day the shares changed hands [December 19], Parma were not operational because a 'due diligence' investigation was taking place.
“On December 19, Taci, who had been recommended to me by other directors of Italian football, signed the contract stating his intention to guarantee the club's continuity by settling the debts.
“From that day, another due diligence was kicked off, blocking the club again.
“On February 6 the club changed ownership again [Parma were sold to Giampietro Manenti].
“If Taci had contributed to the club even a fraction of what he promised, continuity would have been guaranteed.
“In that case the club's accounts would have been reviewed positively. The current debt amounts to €73.5m.
“The short-term demands have to do with the upkeep of the system, which costs about €400,000 per month [for the stadium, the operational centre and the travel expenses].”
In the meantime the club's properties continue to be seized by the credit-holding authorities.
Gym equipment at the club centre in Collecchio was confiscated today for a value of €500,000, on from the impounding of the club's vehicles that took place in the last few days.
