Ghirardi was in charge of the side for several years before selling to Rezart Taci in December for €1.

Under two months later, Taci sold the club on again to current patron Giampietro Manenti for €1.

Nobody at the club has been paid since July 2014 and this weekend’s game with Udinese was called off because they don’t have the money for stewards or security at the Stadio Tardini.

“I have not talked to reporters for a couple of months. I am pained by what is happening,” Ghirardi told Rai Sport.

There is confusion over quite how many debts Parma have, as some suggest it is €96m.

“I invite people to read the balance sheets. I am tired of hearing idiotic comments.”

Parma are on the verge of bankruptcy and there are reports Manenti has already walked away from the club.

Teleducato claim there are last-ditch plans to salvage the situation with a group of local investors, headed by Segafredo owner Massimo Zanetti.

Zanetti had already tried to buy Bologna in Serie B this season, but Canadian investors were preferred instead.
