Fluminense midfielder Gerson’s father admits the battle for his signature between Barcelona and Roma is ‘difficult’.

The Giallorossi are believed to be interested in 18-year-old, but the Catalan giants have the first option on him, and could look to hijack a deal.

“The situation is clear,” Marcao, Gerson’s father, told O Globo.

“Fluminense and Barcelona will have to decide between them what to do. Then I’ll have my say, but obviously no-one can make decisions without me.

“I’m Gerson’s father, and I only want the best for my son. The situation is still difficult, all this chaos is destabilising the lad.

“Whether his next team is Roma, Barcelona or any other club, the sale of Gerson is still very delicate.

“Barcelona? They shouldn’t be irritated by me, they did a deal with Fluminense, and now I’m waiting to understand what they’ll do.”
