Steven Gerrard calls on both Liverpool and Roma supporters to “behave in the right way” ahead of the Champions League semi-final.

The two sides meet for the first leg at Anfield tonight, in what is a re-run of the 1984 European Cup final, which the Reds won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

“I think this is a fantastic fixture for Roma, I think it’s a fantastic fixture for Liverpool,” Gerrard said in a video posted on the Giallorossi’s official Twitter account.

“I think both clubs respect each other and have really big support. I think the message is let’s enjoy the occasion and the two different games and make sure everyone enjoys the games.

“We don’t want to be talking about incidents after the game, we want everyone to be safe.

“We want it to be a fantastic football spectacle where everyone can go and enjoy the games with their families and everyone goes home after the game safe and there’s no incidents.

“I think that’s important because everyone lives and health are more important than a game of football.

“I’m sure the players are going to provide two excellent football matches, let’s make sure both sets of supporters behave in the right way.”
