Marek Hamsik’s agent has revealed that Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is a ‘point of reference’ for the Napoli midfielder.
Gerrard spent the majority of his playing career with Liverpool, captaining the Reds to Champions League glory in 2005, and Juraj Venglos is hopeful Hamsik can emulate the Englishman by leading Napoli to the Scudetto.
“Juventus-Napoli? It’s a very important clash for Marek and Napoli,” he told CalcioNapoli24.

“Juventus-Napoli? It’s a very important clash for Marek and Napoli,” he told CalcioNapoli24.
“We’re at the crossroads of the season, so it’ll be important to manage the pre- and post-game well.
“He’s always respected what Sarri’s asked of him, and he’s tried to give an answer on the pitch.
“Personally I haven’t seen any physical decline from him, or a deterioration in his performance levels.
“On the other hand, he’s got back among the goals after a long time without one. His numbers are suggestive, but they can’t explain Marek’s performance.
“His contribution must also be judged in other ways, such as how he leads the team.
“Comparisons with Gerrard? He’s living through an important spell in his career, but how he progresses depends on the team.
“Certainly Gerrard represents, in that role, a point of reference [for Hamsik].”
