“I can sense within the squad that some are out for revenge and really want to prove themselves after that hammering,” said the Coach.
“Of course, we mean a healthy revenge in a sporting manner, as we want to get the crowd on their feet. When the supporters see you running and battling hard, they view your performance positively.
“That is what happened against Udinese and we hope that we can do the same with Napoli, who have quality, organisation and a full squad. It is reductive to talk about their individuals, as you’re spoilt for choice.”
Genoa have improved under Marino, but remain extremely shaky at the back, conceding 10 goals in his three games in charge.
“Considering the attacking potential at our disposal, it is important to reduce the distractions that made life so difficult at Palermo,” he said of the 5-3 defeat.
“There is no point having tactics if you then concede like that. I see promise for the second half of the season. However, I can’t wait for the transfer deadline, as we need to find our own identity and consistency.”
