There had been reports in Uruguay this morning that a deal was done with former Cagliari, Palermo, Bologna and Penarol coach Lopez.

Now multiple Italian sources, including Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, are confident the announcement will be made at San Siro by President Enrico Preziosi.

This makes Diego Lopez Genoa’s third coach of the season and we are not even halfway through yet.

Thiago Motta was only hired on October 22 to replace Aurelio Andreazzoli, but after an opening 2-1 win over Brescia, managed only one more victory (3-2 in the Coppa Italia against Ascoli), three draws and five defeats.
