They were immediately bumped back up to Serie B due to legal wrangling from Catania that expanded the division to 24 teams.
The Grifone won promotion by finishing top of the Serie B table in 2004-05, however they were then demoted to Serie C1 that summer due to match-fixing.
Preziosi was banned until 2010, but continued to run the club and invest heavily to get them back into Serie A after a 12-year hiatus.
In recent years Genoa have been mid-table and even finished sixth last season, but missed out on Europa League qualification because Preziosi did not fill out the paperwork for a UEFA licence correctly.
