Genoa are set to meet the agents representing Italy international Mateo Retegui on Wednesday, as they edge closer to a deal.

The striker is owned by Boca Juniors, but on loan at Club Atletico Tigre with an option to buy.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Wednesday could be a crucial day to decide his future, because his agents will have a get-together with Genoa.

Promoted to Serie A this summer, the Grifone are determined to be the first to bring Retegui to Italian club football.

Born and raised in Argentina to Italian ancestors, the 24-year-old was brought in to play his international football for Italy, scoring two goals in just three caps.

He has found the net 11 times in 24 competitive games for Tigre so far this season.

Although teams including Inter and Fiorentina had also been interested, Genoa are by far the most focused on making the move stick.
