Genoa sporting director Daniele Faggiano ‘evaluates’ a move for Cagliari forward Leonardo Pavoletti and hopes to bring Antonio Sanabria back from Real Betis.

Faggiano moved to Genoa from Parma and could target a return for Pavoletti, who scored 25 times in 46 games with the Grifoni in between January 2015 and January 2017.

“Pavoletti is a player that everyone would like, we are talking about him, but we have to make some evaluations,” Faggiano told Il Secolo XIX. “We must take into account that he was practically inactive last year.”

Sanabria spent time on loan at Genoa from Real Betis and helped the Rossoblu stay in Serie A last term, scoring six times in 24 League games last term.

The 24-year-old’s contract in Spain expires on June 30, 2022, but Faggiano hopes to bring him back to the Marassi this summer.

“We are working on it; I hope to get it done. In January, I wanted him at Parma, he replied that he will only play for Genoa in Italy.

“He impressed me a lot, because Genoa were last and he played little, he had the opportunity to go to a team that was in a better position.

“There was nothing to do, he was too tied to Genoa. Then he proved his worth, he can be useful for us.”
