Genoa have now definitively signed Junior Messias from Milan after his conditional obligation to buy clause was triggered.

The 32-year-old Brazilian winger, who spent the early stages of his career in semi-professional leagues before emerging with Crotone in 2020, joined the Ligurian outfit on a loan deal in the summer.

Messias spent two years at Milan after arriving in the summer of 2021, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists across 68 total games. He was part of the squad that won the Scudetto in his debut season.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Genoa picked up their 22nd point of this Serie A season after drawing Torino 0-0 on Saturday, something that activated the clause attached to Messias’ loan move.

The Ligurian side will now pay €3m to Milan to sign the Brazilian winger on a definitive transfer. He has struggled for regular playing time this season, missing 14 matches due to muscle issues.

Messias has seen 430 minutes of action across nine games for Genoa this term, scoring in the 4-1 win over Roma back in September.
