Salvatore Sirigu is in negotiations with Genoa, as Grifone director Vincenzo Marroccu confirmed the Torino goalkeeper would be ‘a big name for us.’

He made a brief substitute appearance during the UEFA EURO 2020 campaign and many teammates have hailed his influence in the locker room.

However, Torino have already made it clear Sirigu is no longer required and they are giving the gloves to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

It’s likely they’ll even terminate his contract by mutual consent, allowing the 34-year-old to move as a free agent.

Genoa seems to be the most probable destination for Sirigu, as they returned Mattia Perin to Juventus following his loan spell.

“Sirigu would be a big name for us,” said Genoa director Marroccu today.

Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims negotiations are progressing well and a deal is expected to go through next week bringing former Cagliari and PSG shot-stopper Sirigu to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
