The Rossoblu were losing 3-0 on home turf at the 51st minute, but completed an extraordinary comeback with Rodrigo Palacio and Alberto Paloschi braces.

“We played a great game, even when we were losing 3-0. I hoped, but to be honest, I didn't believe in this result,” said Coach Ballardini.

“We played a great game, even when we were losing 3-0. I hoped, but to be honest, I didn't believe in this result,” said Coach Ballardini.

“I want to thank our fans for their immense warmth, as their intensity kept us going even when we were struggling. No other stadium in Italy has a crowd like this.”

President Preziosi was in the stands at Marassi and swept up by the enthusiasm of the events.

“It was a classic game, one to tell the grandchildren about,” he grinned. “On the 3-0 I had doubts on our fightback, but then Paloschi and Palacio gave us this great joy.

“Now we are in a comfortable mid-table position and can look to the future without too many concerns.”
