Genoa President Enrico Preziosi revealed Alessandro Matri “will go to Juventus” and be replaced by Roma’s Marco Borriello.

The rumour had been in the air that Max Allegri wanted Matri back with him, having worked with the striker at Cagliari and Milan.

This season Matri was out on loan at Genoa from Milan, but is making a surprising return to Juventus.

According to the Corriere dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, Preziosi told reporters that Matri “will go to Juventus.

“We’ll announce Borriello tomorrow and Matri will go to Juve.”

Borriello is owned by Roma and this too is a return, as he spent time at Genoa twice in his career.

Matri is currently out injured, but wore the Juventus jersey from July 2011 to August 2013.
