Genoa will be without Riccardo Saponara for the next two weeks after he sustained a thigh injury.

The former Sampdoria and Fiorentina man was diagnosed with a Grade I lesion to the right femoral bicep.

A statement from the club confirmed Saponara is expected to be out of action for 15 days.

It means he will miss the opening two Serie A games of the season against Roma and Fiorentina.

He picked up the muscular injury during Genoa’s Coppa Italia victory over Imolese.
