The club's President Enrico Preziosi feels it's time for a change between the sticks after Eduardo's latest clanger against Udinese at the weekend.

Genoa had initially opened talks with Cagliari who now appear open to letting Marchetti leave Sardinia on loan having frozen him out of the first team this season.

However, Gigi Buffon's return to fitness has thrown a spanner in the works, as Storari who had stood in for the Italy No 1 would now like to leave in order to keep playing regular first team football.

Storari has requested a move to Genoa and given he has been one of the best `keepers in Serie A this season, they are said to be very interested.

To make things even more complicated, Juventus would move for Marchetti if Storari leaves for Genoa.

It's thought that Juventus would prefer to sell Storari rather than loan the player, something which might prove to be a stumbling block.

In the meantime, the terms of Cagliari's loan would include an option to sign Marchetti outright in the summer for a reported fee of €5.5m.
