FIGC has confirmed that Lazio, Genoa, Lecce and eight players including Stefano Mauri will face various charges relating to Calcioscommesse.
Federal prosecutors have been confirmed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) today as putting forward the three clubs and a number of players to face the National Disciplinary Commission on a series of charges relating to alleged involvement in the fixing of Lazio-Genoa and Lecce-Lazio in May 2011.
The three clubs involved have all been put forward for disciplinary action on the charge of ‘objective liability’, a charge that could result in a points deduction for each club – Lazio face two counts of this charge, one for each game.
Meanwhile, Aquile captain Mauri, alongside Mario Cassano, Carlo Gervasoni, Omar Milanetto, Alessandro Zamparini, Massimiliano Benassi, Antonio Rosati and Stefano Ferrario face charges of sporting fraud for alleged involvement in one or both games.
Mauri and Zamparini are cited as having also violated Article 1 paragraph 1 of the Code of Sports Justice, the principles of loyalty, fairness and integrity, and Article 6 paragraph 1, prohibition of betting.
Reports are that, if the charges are approved, Mauri could face a lengthy ban from the game upwards of three-and-a-half years.
