Genoa have reportedly informed Arsenal’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos they will sign another defender if he doesn’t make a final decision on his future by the end of the week.

The Greece international has emerged as a top transfer target for Genoa who seek to reinforce their defensive department in January.

Papastathopoulos is also being linked with a move to Fenerbache in the winter transfer window.

According to Sky Sport, Genoa have informed the player’s entourage, they will sign another centre-back if their former defender won’t make a final over his return at the Luigi Ferraris by the end of the week.

The 32-year-old played with Genoa for two seasons, between 2008 and 2010.

The Grifone seem to be busy in the January transfer window as they are close to signing former Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman on loan from Marseille.
