Gian Piero Gasperini and Enrico Preziosi were “furious” with Diego Perotti after Genoa’s eighth red card.

The dismissal, for lashing out an elbow, proved costly when Bologna snatched a last-gasp 1-0 victory at Marassi on Saturday.

“I am furious. It’s absolutely unacceptable to lose this way,” President Preziosi told Radio Nostalgia.

“The madness of Perotti’s elbow is a symbol of the frenetic way we’re approaching the situation. What is the point working hard to win a game when we always go down to 10 men?

“I am simply astounded. This is a match we deserved to win 4-0, instead we managed to lose at home to both Bologna and Carpi.

“What a horrible campaign. It feels like we’re cursed.”

Genoa have the worst disciplinary record in Serie A this season and Perotti had only just returned from suspension for another red card against Sassuolo.

Striker Leonardo Pavoletti is sitting out a three-match ban for lashing out an elbow only six minutes into a 2-1 home defeat to Carpi.

“This one really does weigh on us. It’s hard to swallow. It is so damaging for us to play so many games when a man down. We have to reflect on what we’re doing,” Coach Gasperini told Mediaset Premium.

“We are making life difficult for ourselves. We are not a ‘nasty’ team. I don’t know if Perotti was trying to shrug off his opponent, but if he struck him in the face then it’s a red card.

“Bologna did so little and yet emerged with three points. We have got to focus on resolving these issues.”
