Genoa outline transfer plans for Alessio Cerci, Lucas Mendes and “opportunities” in the Roma attack.

President Enrico Preziosi discussed his current activities on Sky Sport Italia after a meeting with Milan CEO Adriano Galliani at Forte dei Marmi.

“We asked for Cerci, but he wants to stay at Milan and his agent told me there would be no move until January. I think Suso intends to go back to Spain, but with Niang’s injury Milan don’t want to release anyone.

“Niang had the opportunity to relaunch his career at Genoa, thanks also to Gian Piero Gasperini who realised the qualities of this young lad.

“He could be of use to us again in January, but we don’t want to sign anyone on loan without an option to buy. That is why Niang is no longer part of our dreams and it’s only right he continues his career elsewhere.

“Lucas Mendes is close. We are already at an advanced stage of negotiations and hope to conclude the deal between tonight and tomorrow.”

Sampdoria are also interested in the Brazilian defender, who currently plays for El-Jaish in Qatar.

Preziosi reveals Genoa are hovering around the surplus of strikers at the Stadio Olimpico.

“Roma have important players in attack that they do not use and need to sell. Maybe they could represent opportunities for us.”

The clubs already have a strong rapport, as Genoa sent Iago Falque and Andrea Bertolacci to the Giallorossi this summer.
