Genoa coach Alexander Blessin joked about why he no longer speaks to Jurgen Klopp and maintains Liverpool were ‘very lucky’ to beat Inter in the Champions League.

The Grifone face Inter on Friday in Serie A, hosting the match at 20.00 GMT.

Blessin is their third coach of the season after Davide Ballardini and Andriy Shevchenko, but has so far drawn all his games in charge.

The German is, like Klopp, part of the school of management that emerged under Ralf Rangnick, now at Manchester United.

“I have not talked to Klopp after Inter-Liverpool because I am very angry with him,” joked Blessin in his press conference.

“When I played for Stuttgart Kickers, he was the manager of Mainz and didn’t want me in his squad. So I didn’t want to talk to him!”

Of course, Blessin watched Liverpool’s 2-0 away victory in the Champions League so he could research next opponents Inter.

“I think Inter did really well, making life very difficult for Liverpool. The result does not reflect what happened during the match between the two teams.

“In fact, I am convinced that Liverpool were very lucky to win the game.”
