Genoa have seen their €6m offer for creative midfielder Rade Krunic rejected by Empoli, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The 25-year-old Bosnia & Herzegovina international has contributed three goals and three assists in 16 Serie A games this season.
He is under contract until June 2021 and Empoli are not prepared to let him go unless there is a far larger proposal on the trophy.
Krunic had already been an objective for Genoa over the summer, but they renewed their interest with Cesare Prandelli taking over as their third Coach of the campaign.
