During those talks, Genoa suggested bringing in Croatia international Pjaca, who can play in a variety of attacking roles.

With Krzysztof Piatek on the verge of a €40m transfer to Milan, Christian Kouame would move into the centre-forward role, leaving Pjaca on the wing.

The 23-year-old has struggled for playing time at Fiorentina, managing one goal and one assist in 16 Serie A appearances.

The Viola paid €2m for the season-long loan with option to buy for a further €20m.
