Genoa have asked Milan for striker Gianluca Lapadula, but they have been turned down.

The striker was signed from newly-promoted minnows Pescara, and many believed that he was coming in to replace outbound poacher Carlos Bacca.

With the Colombian having cemented his position after a sensational game against Torino, and his fellow striker Luiz Adriano not expected to be sold either, some thought Lapadula's position had become redundant.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Genoa made similar considerations and stepped in to ask for the former Serie B superstar.

However, Milan's response was to turn them down, as they still believe that the 26-year-old has a fundamental role to play in the club.
