According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are unwilling to sell Lautaro Martinez and refused to sit down with Tottenham and Manchester United representatives who had sounded out the Argentinean striker.

Both Premier League sides have reportedly set their sights on the 25-year-old, Inter’s best scorer this season, with 21 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions.

An intermediary representing the two clubs reportedly spoke to Inter directors following their Champions League fixture with Benfica in April, but the Nerazzurri made it clear that Lautaro is not on the market.

The Argentinean signed a contract extension in 2021 and his current deal expires in 2026. He is said to be happy at the Stadio Meazza and not seeking to leave.

This means Spurs and Manchester United will have to look elsewhere to get attacking reinforcement in 2023-24.

As explained by Football Italia on Tuesday, Lautaro is a key player in the Nerazzurri’s long-term project, although the Serie A giants are still likely to sell one of their stars at the end of the season. Therefore they could listen to offers for André Onana, Marcelo Brozovic or Denzel Dumfries.
