Marcelo Brozovic has fallen down the pecking order under Simone Inzaghi and La Gazzetta dello Sport predicts the Croatia international will leave Inter in the summer.

Brozovic signed a contract extension with the Nerazzurri barely a year ago, but he hasn’t been a regular starter at the Stadio Meazza after the World Cup.

The 30-year-old returned from Qatar with a muscle injury and has only started two Serie A games in 2023.

He was surprisingly dropped from the starting XI in Inter-s 2-0 win over Lecce on Sunday seeing his replacement Henrikh Mkhitaryan score the opener against the Giallorossi.

The ex-Manchester United midfielder, who joined as a free agent from Roma last summer, has become Brozovic’s permanent replacement at the Stadio Meazza, so Gazzetta expects to see ‘Epic Brozo’ leave at the end of the season.

‘As of today, it’s logical to think that Inter and the Croatian will part ways in the summer,’ wrote the pink paper.

According to the report, Inter didn’t like the fact that Brozovic was followed by fitness coach Andreja Milutinovic to recover from his injury in January as the latter had been appointed as Milan‘s ‘head of performance’ only a few months earlier.

Brozovic was linked with a move to Barcelona in the January transfer window in a potential swap deal with Franck Kessié and the Catalans are among the admirers of the ex-Dinamo Zagreb star.

Brozovic’s €6m-a-year contract at the Stadio Meazza runs through June 2026.
