La Gazzetta dello Sport praises Antonio Conte and claims Tottenham star Harry Kane is ‘in love with Spurs again’ thanks to the Italian tactician.

Kane wanted to leave Spurs a year ago, with Manchester City strongly interested in securing his services. However, Spurs rejected every offer from the Etihad Stadium and somehow persuaded Kane to stay.

Conte was then appointed as the new Tottenham boss at the start of November, signing an 18-month deal. The England superstar has been shining since the Italian boss sits in the Spurs’ dug-out.

Kane has scored 22 goals in 39 games under the ex-Inter and Juventus boss, averaging one goal every 157 minutes, one every 135 minutes in the Premier League.

He was once again decisive yesterday in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Wolverhampton on Saturday. La Gazzetta dello Sport analyses Kane’s performances under Conte, highlighting how the coach’s winning mentality has been the key to the striker’s development at Spurs over the last year.

The England captain is no longer considering leaving North London and was praised by his coach yesterday.

“We know very well the importance of Harry for us,” the boss told BBC Sport. “He’s a top player and I was really pleased to see him score.

“We are talking about a world-class striker. We know his skill, and his ability, but at the same time, he is really good at working with the team.

“We’re talking about a really good person, a really good man. He’s always ready to help the team, to work for the team. Usually, when you have this type of player, they can be a bit lazy without the ball. Because they like to play with the ball but without the ball [they think] ‘I don’t run because I have to be fresh when we have the ball.’

“But this was a bit surprising to me, working with Harry. I know he reached another big achievement, a big personal achievement. But we’re trying to work together, with the team and always with Harry to have not only personal achievements, like last season for example when Son was the top scorer in the league, but to try to have a big achievement together for the team and the club.”
