According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan have decided to build their new stadium without Inter and have identified three potential spots for the post-San Siro era.

The pink paper reports the Rossoneri are willing to part ways with their city rivals, building a new stadium alone.

The two clubs had approved a project called ‘The Cathedral’ barely a year ago a new. A shared stadium that should have been built in San Siro. The legendary Stadio Meazza should have been taken down to comply with the environmental regulations, but according to Gazzetta, that plan is no longer on Gerry Cardinale’s agenda.

The new Rossoneri owner wants to construct a new stadium alone, without their city rivals. The defending Serie A champions have already identified three spots where their new home could be built.

The first option is in Sesto San Giovanni, just outside Milan. The city council has already given the green light to any project involving Milan’s new stadium. A vast area is available for the Rossoneri, who, however, would play for the first time outside the city of Milan.

The second option is San Donato, also just outside Milan; while the third is a 75 hectares area called ‘La Maura’, not too far from San Siro, owned by the FCMA Group.

Cardinale will make his assessment and take a decision soon. Gazzetta reports that he is aware Milan need a new stadium and need it alone, especially after seeing the club earn more than €9m for their home Champions League match against Tottenham last week, the highest match day revenue in Italian football.
