According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Olivier Giroud is in no hurry to sign a new contract with Milan and is tempted by an MLS transfer over the summer.
Giroud’s contract runs out in June 2024, and Gazzetta journalist Luca Bianchin wrote in Thursday’s printed edition on page six that the France forward is not rushing to pen a new deal with the Serie A giants.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal striker has not yet made a final decision about his future and Milan have not yet called him to discuss plans for the upcoming campaign.
The report claims Giroud’s Milan role will change next season when he will no longer be a regular starter given that the Rossoneri are expected to sign a new centre-forward for 2024-25.
According to the report, Giroud snubbed an offer from Saudi Arabia last summer but ‘the feeling is that an MLS transfer is now more tempting than in the past,’ wrote Bianchin.
Giroud will probably decide on his future around April/May.
The 37-year-old has scored 41 goals in 106 appearances with Milan. He moved to San Siro from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and won the Serie A title in his first season at the club.
